Organic since 1990
Il Rigo is an organic farm.
We don’t use pesticides or herbicides on our 300 hectares of land and garden.
That preserves the biodiversity and the life of many inhabitants of our ecosystems, such as bees and other pollinators, birds, fireflies, frogs and small mammals.
If you find a little bug in your room you’ll have the proof that we don’t spread poisons on our ground and air! We hope you understand!
BIODEGRADABLE AND PLASTIC FREE COURTESY KIT
In the bathroom you’ll find our courtesy kit, made of a handmade soap and shampoo. The small business “Lunaroma” produces cosmetics with olive oil and natural aromas.
The soaps come without plastic wrapping, one of the most plastic consuming processes. Solid shampoo might be new for many of you, but it works perfectly and, being concentrated, saves a lot of plastic! We hope to inspire you to adopt this shampoo at home and reduce waste!
SEPARATE COLLECTION
All our waste is separated. Kitchen waste is used for our garden compost, plastic, aluminium and glass are recycled, non treated paper is burned in the wood fire oven when we light it for making bread.
Bring us your waste if you want to separate it too.
We also invite you to save your plastic bottles that can be refilled in the reception for free with still and sparkling water.
WATER RECYCLING
All the water waste of the house is filtered and treated and reused to irrigate the garden. We ask you to help us in conserving it, leaving used towels on the floor and fresh towels on the rack!

Our ethos celebrates homemade and homegrown food as well as independent local producers of the area.
SWIMMING POND
In summer, when the days are hot, you can refresh yourself by jumping in our swimming pond, a living ecosystem with waterlilies, frogs and a deep pool to plunge!
