Kelly and Sean: a heartfelt gathering in June to celebrate authenticity
I decided to start sharing 2023 happy wedding memories from Kelly and Sean’s late June wedding.
I’m sure you’ll fall in love with the beautiful bouquet of the radiant Kelly, the romantic ceremony under the pines and the breathtaking views, but it’s the words that accompany the pictures that make it so special!
I’m so glad to share this precious and helpful testimony and a few words of wisdom from those who decided to celebrate this special day with us!
We were searching for an intimate wedding venue in a natural setting, and with local sourcing.
We stumbled upon Il Rigo by chance in one of our searches, and it immediately felt so special.
After our first meeting we knew right away that il Rigo was our dream venue. We had always talked about exploring Italy together and had a special trip booked in March of 2020 that was canceled due to the pandemic. As individuals and as a couple, we have always valued the privilege to travel and to explore places and cultures. It seemed like a perfect happenstance and an opportunity to revisit our travel plans and invite our loved ones to join us.
During our stay we took many of our guests to the hot springs of Bagno Vignoni, and then to Podere il Casale for a tour and lunch the day after our wedding. The hot springs were a great way to relax, and see more natural beauty of the area. The tour and lunch allowed everyone a chance to see, learn, and eat more of the region in a fun and interactive way. Everyone is still raving about the cheese, the wine, and what a wonderful time they had. Some of our other guests spent time exploring Siena and the vineyards- you truly can’t go wrong!
Getting ready
My wedding dress is the stevie gown by Alexandra Grecco, a New York City based designer.
Her dress designs are made-to-order and sustainably conscious. I tried on many dresses as it was very important to me to feel comfortable and like myself. The dress was so soft it felt like wearing pajamas! I fell in love with the ethereal detail, and the delicate floral lace pattern on the back and down the train.
The dress felt simple and special, timeless yet modern, and felt well-suited for the setting and weather.

Photos amidst the hills
We can’t say enough wonderful things about our photographers, Alessandro and Francesca of Duesudue. Aside from their talent, their love for their work really shines, and they are such down-to-earth people. They are true professionals and they made us feel so comfortable being photographed (we consider ourselves awkward in front of a camera lens!)
Not only do the photos (and video) capture the spirit and the emotion of the day perfectly, they are also beautiful, alive and artful. We are immediately transported back to il Rigo every time we see them.
Reception & party
It was a bit nerve-wracking traveling so far, and asking others to travel so far to celebrate with us, but we always felt like we were in the very best of hands. Luisa was the most helpful, responsive, and made us feel confident that everything would run smoothly, even though we had never visited il Rigo in-person. It was really important to us for our guests to have a memorable and enjoyable time and it was so clear that Luisa, Matthias, and the staff and family of il Rigo were just as invested as in our experience as we were.
